Navajo Hip-hop Artist/Activist Raps

Gabriel Yaiva a rapper, music producer and promoter who engages Native American youth in the revitalization of Native culture. He is Navajo and Hopi, originally from Pinon, A.Z., and his father is from Hotevilla, A.Z. on the 3rd mesa of the Hopi reservation. Yaiva is of the Reed/Arrow clan and is born for the Eagle clan. His maternal grandfather is of the Coyote Pass People and his paternal grandfather is of the Bear clan.

Yaiva is a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a B.S. in Applied Indigenous Studies and a minor in Economic Development. In this short clip he gives a greeting in his Native language and performs a quick rap.
