Bougainville, an autonomous region of Papua New Guinea, is geographically part of the Soloman Islands. It is an island nation rich in biocultural diversity. With at least 24 different languages, the 200k+ people of Bougainville are currently at a crossroads in choosing their path of development. This video features some of the sights and sounds of this beautiful place, including music and dance from the bi-annual Reeds Festival (Kaur Festival). The Christensen Fund has been making grants to Indigenous-led organizations in Bougainville for several years, and is proud to support these resilient islanders efforts for self determination.
