Challenges for the maintenance of traditional biodiversity knowledge in Latin America

Challenges for the maintenance of traditional biodiversity knowledge in Latin America

The research involved vast and complex issues, having links to many aspects of the socio-economic, cultural and political context of the countries of the region, and to their colonial history. At the same time, the region itself is vast and diverse, with 34 countries speaking five official European languages (Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, and Dutch) and several hundreds of other national and indigenous languages. In this context, one single, summary report cannot deal with such a complex issue in an exhaustive and sufficient manner.
