Milena Miyashiro serves as a Grants Manager for The Christensen Fund. She works as part of a co-managed team overseeing all components of the foundation’s grants administration policies, procedures and operations, and is responsible for the grants administration of our Southwest U.S., Northwest Mexico and San Francisco Bay Area Programs.
Prior to joining The Christensen Fund, Milena served as Development Manager at My New Red Shoes, executing fundraising plans and maintaining donor relationships for the Bay Area nonprofit which provides a brand new pair of shoes and a clothing gift card to homeless and low-income children. She has extensive knowledge in development, grant-making and program management. Fluent in Spanish, Milena obtained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Latin American Studies from California State University, Los Angeles. With her educational background and passion to help others, she has volunteered domestically at Habitat for Humanity and internationally both as an interpreter for the Peruvian American Medical Society’s Medical Mission in Ayacucho, Peru, and as a consultant on fundraising strategies for a nonprofit in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Milena is an active member of the Grants Managers Network (GMN), serving as the Regional Chair for the Northern California Chapter. She was also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Silicon Valley Chapter. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling, practicing pilates and yoga, learning about sustainable design, and spending time with family and friends.
