Director of Finance and Operations
Albert Fong is the Director of Finance and Operations for The Christensen Fund overseeing investments, finance and operations.
Albert has diverse expertise in non-profit and for-profit financial and systems management gained over three decades working with numerous organizations. He has a BSME from MIT and an MSME from UNM. His NGO roles have included Managing Director with CompuMentor/TechSoup; Board Member and volunteer with Open Channels, a UK trust that partners with Indigenous groups in southern Africa in their defense of land, resources and heritage; Lead in projects in Vietnam and California to install more than a dozen school and community computer centers; and Project Manager for 50+ photovoltaic installations and a community training program under an environmental justice settlement.
Albert was AT&T’s Managing Director of International Communications in Beijing and led an international team working with PRC’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications to propel the rapid growth of PRC-US telecommunications infrastructure and traffic. Notable projects included PRC’s first international undersea fiber optic cable and a nation-wide project to monitor, manage and improve international traffic. While an engineer, Albert configured some of the largest data networks in the US, managed and designed photovoltaic and solar thermal projects for international and domestic use and worked on the acoustics of submarines and the Lunar Excursion Module.
When not in the office, Albert allocates his time to grandkids, basketballs and pool halls.
