Important Changes at The Christensen Fund

Dear Grantees, Colleagues and Friends:

Some bittersweet news to share.

jeff2Jeff Campbell, our Director of Grantmaking who has played a key role in The Christensen Fund over the last five years has been offered a wonderful opportunity to head up the Forest and Farm Facility at the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome. This is an important initiative, with which he has long engagement, and where we recognize he can make a significant contribution. Jeff will begin his new role at the FAO on September 1st, 2013, and so his last day as Director of Grantmaking will be August 23rd, 2013.

Meanwhile, we are delighted to appoint Dr. Bea Calo as our new Director of Grantmaking, effective September 1st. Bea has served as our Director of Operations and Chief Operating Officer since 2006, playing a leading role in (among other things) internationalizing our staffing and operations and building our communications efforts. Bea holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from University of California, Davis, and published her dissertation, entitled: Chicano Entrepreneurship in Rural California: An Empirical Analysis. She holds a Master’s of International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a BSc (Econ) from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Prior to Christensen Bea had 25+ years of diverse international business experience working mainly with start-ups and high-growth companies.  Born in The Philippines, Bea grew up in southern Mindanao, upstate New York, Hawai’i and Tanzania.

Please join me in heartfelt thanks to Jeff for all he has done over these last five years and in warmly welcoming Bea in her new role. Best wishes to all and we look forward to our continuing work together.
